Indy Yellow Pearl GR20
When an ex superstock rider asks you to build him a custom Gravel Bike it’s very unlikely to be a subtle one. Actually, Kyle did start subtle with the idea of a stealth black build but we urged him to be a little bolder with his colour choice. After all, he had the choice of any colour right? So, instead he chose Indy Yellow Pearl. It’s actually a 3 layer application to achieve the colour, followed by graphics application which are satin black followed by 3 layers of clear coat. As always, we then ceramic coated the frame and forks before building the bike. The bike is protected with Bike Shield in the vital places like the chain stay, calliper mounts and underside of the down tube.
Specification is GRX Mechanical with our adaptations to deal with the current parts supply issues here in the UK. We’ll cover these in detail in a separate post but it’s safe to say that we are doing our very best to look after our customers and keep on top of new bike supply.
Kyle has gone for 2 sets of wheels. Pictured here are his road orientated set which are Hunt 4 Season Gravel Disc X-Wide wheels with Hutchinson Overide 700 x 35c tyres. It’s worth noting, we say road, but this is a very capable gravel setup anyway. His race/gravel wheels are due next week and are Hunt 30 Carbon All-Road Disc wheels in 700c with Maxxis Rambler 700 x 40c tyres. The wheels alone are 219 grams lighter than the alloy ones but we’ll need to consider a difference in tyre weight.
3x Elite Cannibal cages, Topeak Escape Pod with tool essentials and a black Knog Oi bell finish off the build.
The build weight, GR20 Gravel Bike size 54cm, as pictured with the alloy wheels is 8.75kg with no pedals and 80ml of Stans sealant in each tyre.
